5 Weird Languages in the world

Language is definitely unique feature that makes us different. There are more than 8 billion people living on this planet and there are more than 8000 languages being spoken while 2500 at risk of dying out. There are languages that are common and yet there are languages that sound completely new to people. As many of you know, Chinese and English are most commonly used languages around the world.

Since languages are key to communication, there are some weird languages in the world. Let’s take a look at some of the weird languages in the world.

1. Mixtec (Chalcatongo). There are around 6000 people in Mexican states of Guerrero, Oaxaca. There are also Puebla people in California that also speak Mixtec. The Nahuatl word “Mixtec” means “cloud”. The natural meaning of the language is “World of the Rain”. In Mesoamerican history, the Mixtec people created their own distinctive logographic writing system during the Post-classic era. At the time of the Spanish invasion of the Mixteca region, this language already contained a complicated collection of regional dialects.

2. Choctaw. Choctaw, which is spoken by Native Americans is another weird language on the list. The Roman alphabet used in the writings is the English version. There are three dialects of the Choctaw language including Native Choctaw, Mississippi Choctaw, and Mississippian Choctaw. Its word order, organization and verbs are morphologically complex. There are currently about 10,000 Choctaw people, majority of whom reside in Oklahoma.

3.Tuyuca. The Tuyuca language is spoken by about 1000 people in Brazil and Columbia. It is one of the weirdest and most difficult languages to master. There are more than 100 different word genders. And the term “Tuyuca” designates a language that agglutinates, or when numerous morphemes combine to form a single word. It is the hardest language for example, the phrase “I do not know how to write” appears as "hóabsiriga” in Tuyuca.

4. Archi. Only 900 people speak Archi who are located in 8 villages. There are Archi speakers in Russia. As there are fewer speakers in numbers, it also makes it a distinct language. There are almost 1.5 million different conjugations in this language. For example, when we use an action verb, same verb in Archi language can be used in 1.5 million various ways.

5.Xhosa. Xhosa of South Africa has caught up to other languages in the weirdest language pipeline. In South Africa, Xhosa is the first language of 8.2 million people. Additionally, it is spoken as a second language of northern, eastern and Western capes. IsiXhosa is another name for Xhosa. It is a tonal language with fifteen clicks that function as the language’s consonants. It is influenced by English and African languages.

Since communication relies on languages, this world has become increasingly globalized. Therefore, it is necessary to get over the language barrier in order to live in this multilingual world. Due to this the needs for localization and translation are increasing as well.
